Weekends

When it comes to nurturing the development of our students, we believe the weekends are just as important as time spent in lessons.

They provide an opportunity for girls to indulge their curiosity and creativity while building confidence and encouraging socialising outside the classroom environment.

Saturday Mornings

Our Saturday Programme runs from 8.30am – 12.20pm on Saturdays in term time and is an integrated part of our pupils’ education at College. All day and boarding pupils attend these sessions, which provide an opportunity for both academic lessons and an enrichment programme that extends their learning beyond the curriculum. Saturday morning activities often include external speakers, concerts, or professional theatre, music or science workshops. Saturday day trips also often include inspiring days out to visit historic sites, museums and conferences.

Saturday afternoons and Sundays

For many pupils, Saturday afternoons are spent playing sport as we have a busy fixture list with up to 20 teams competing every week. For others, this time presents the opportunity to relax or take part in House activities.

Sundays are also full of opportunities for pupils to unwind and enjoy time with their friends. From games in the park or ice skating to pizza and film evenings, College organises a range of fun and relaxed activities to keep pupils entertained.

For Lower College pupils (Years 7-9), a specially designed Weekend Programme is planned and published at the start of each year. It features something to suit every pupil. Activities include preparations and rehearsals for whole-school events such as the House Music competition or Upcycled Fashion, as well as a range of trips and events. Recent examples include a visit to the Barn Owl centre, Ceroc dancing and Discos with other schools, and cave exploration in the Forest of Dean and Clearwell Caves.

Integrated into our successful co-curricular scheme, the Weekend Programme demonstrates our commitment to nurturing pupils’ development both inside and outside the classroom.

Although most aspects of the Weekend Programme are not compulsory for Day Girls, they are warmly encouraged to participate and many enjoy taking part in the weekend activities on offer.
