Our Future

In the 19th century, the founding of College redefined girls’ education and grew into an international reputation. We are committed to continuing our pioneering role in the education of young women, offering outstanding provisions in both academics and co-curriculars, thereby helping them to flourish in an increasingly complex and challenging world.

In order to maintain the quality of this exceptional and historic learning environment, we are making an investment in our facilities and estate that is second only in scale to that of our founders.

Over the last ten years, we have refurbished our Junior boarding houses and in the next ten years, we are planning to build a new Sixth Form house and to renovate our existing senior boarding properties.

Along with our accommodation we have an ongoing programme to update academic spaces, including completed refurbishments of the science laboratories and music rooms.

The Health and Fitness Centre (HFC) opened in 2018. The facilities include two sports halls, a climbing wall, a refurbished 25m swimming pool, a multi-purpose activity studio, dance studio, five squash courts and a 58-station fitness gym with free weights, spin, rowing and erg areas. In 2023, we also upgraded the equipment to benefit from the latest connected technology.

Other improvements include a range of sustainability initiatives as we aim to meet our pledge to be carbon net zero by 2030, including the installation of solar panels on the HFC roof to enable us to generate our own electricity, to be followed by solar arrays on the Sixth Form roof and West Wing.

We are also renovating other buildings across our estate to reduce our carbon emissions and have recently completed a significant project at Royal House, the home for our professional service functions that support College.

Each year, 60-70 pupils at College receive a bursary, which equates to around £1.6 million in schooling. Thanks to generous current and former parents, Guild members, staff and many other members of our community, we’re delighted that across Giving Days in 2022 and 2023, we raised an additional £205,363. This money goes towards expanding the number of bursaries we are able to offer at College, and in turn helps enable us to create life-changing opportunities to more girls, irrespective of means.

Over the next decade we plan to continue to build our bursary endowment fund, pursue our sustainability goals, and continue to invest in appropriate major capital projects, all aligned to our strategic aims.
