We understand that choosing the right senior school is an important and sometimes complex decision, for both parents and daughters. You will be supported in this by our highly experienced Admissions team led by Dr Hilary Laver, Admissions Director. She and her team will be your main points of contact during the process and they are here to answer your questions, help you to navigate anything that is unfamiliar and generally provide reassurance during what can sometimes be a stressful time for all involved.
Each September around 160 girls join College, becoming part of a vibrant, diverse community of approximately 850 girls and 600 academic and operational staff. They follow in the footsteps of thousands of girls who have gone before them, leaving us as young women well-equipped to meet the challenges of their lives beyond College.
We know that our excellent examination results at GCSE, A Level and IB might suggest that we accept only highly academic girls; in fact, we are looking for girls who have potential and a positive attitude to learning. We recognise and understand that girls apply to us from a diverse range of previous educational backgrounds and our admissions process is geared towards getting to know candidates, their ambitions and attainments in the context of their current and previous schooling. We want girls to enjoy following their academic interests and to want to make a contribution to College life, be it in academic, music, art, sport or other spheres.
The information on these pages gives an overview of the application process and provides an outline for each entry point. Most girls join at 11+, 13+ or 16+ for both day and boarding places; however, if we have space, some girls may also join us at 12+ or 14+. All those who join College must take entrance exams and these take place at various times depending on the year group of entry. More detailed information about this can be found using the links to our Key Dates documents for the relevant entry year.
The admissions journey usually begins with a visit to College and we do hope to be able to welcome you soon.
