Each September approximately 40 boarders join us in LC1 (Year 7 / 11+) from schools across the UK, and the world.
They join one of our six Junior Boarding Houses and are taught in mixed ability groups in most subjects, alongside around 25 day girls. All pupils have access to specialist Lower College tutors to help them settle in and mentor them throughout their initial years at College.
If you're interested in visiting us, please see our Visits & Open Days page for more details on how to book.

We would encourage you to book on to an Open Day, to give you a broad overview of the school and an opportunity to meet staff and girls. There is usually a presentation, Q&A session, and the chance to meet the Principal or Admissions Director to discuss your daughter’s application. You'll also get to visit a boarding house to get a taste of boarding life.
We encourage you to submit a Registration Form as soon as you have decided College is an option for your daughter. This means we can keep in touch, invite you to events and inform you of key deadlines.
Deadline: 1st July of Year 5
Registered parents will be sent an Entrance Exam Form to complete. This confirms you want to go ahead with your daughter's application and enter her for the Assessment Day.
Deadline: 1st August before starting Year 6
Year 7 candidates are required to attend an Assessment Day, which includes group discussions, activities and written and adaptive online tests in Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning. The day provides another opportunity for girls to meet their peers and find out about the opportunities at CLC.
The assessment days usually take place during the first two weeks of October.
Each year, we make available a Briefing Paper summarising the subject content and skills we assess along with a suggested reading list, and a link to a Verbal Reasoning familiarisation exercise:
Our team of assessors review each candidate’s performance across the entrance papers, her engagement and participation during the Assessment Day, and the reference we request from her current Head Teacher.
Places are offered in mid-November of Year 6.
In the February of Year 6, the girls with the strongest performance in the entrance exams are invited to assessments and interviews for an Academic Scholarship or auditions for a Music Scholarship. Our scholarships do not carry fee remission, but Scholars benefit from our bespoke Scholarship Programme.
You will have until the beginning of March in Year 6 to accept your place and pay the acceptance fee and deposit.
In June of Year 6, parents receive confirmation of their daughter's House and be given access to an online portal containing our joining information and forms to be completed.
In late June / early July, you'll have contact with your new Houseparent and have the opportunity to ask them your questions about joining your new house.
The Autumn term begins at the start of September. Arrangements vary each year, but new students tend to have an induction a day or two before the term begins, to give them chance to settle in.

Key dates for Year 7 entry in September 2026 will be available shortly.
If you have missed the application deadlines we are occasionally able to fast track an application, although we cannot guarantee that this will result in a place. Please do contact our Admissions Team via the 'Request a Callback' on our Admissions Portal for a conversation about late entry options for your daughter.
