Local education with global opportunities in a supportive and dynamic community.
Our 200 day girls are integral to our community, and enjoy the same wide-ranging opportunities, world-class facilities and exceptional teaching as our boarders.
Practically, being a day student in a boarding school offers many benefits - from a diverse community and an extensive co-curricular programme, to the flexibility of our wrap around care (our day houses are open from 7am to 7pm on weekdays), and the option to board on an ad hoc basis. We also offer extensive bus routes that run across Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds to support families in getting to and from College each day.

Joining CLC as a Year 7 day pupil means becoming part of a welcoming and vibrant community. Around 25 girls join our Junior Day Houses each year and are supported by tutors and dedicated pastoral staff to settle in quickly and thrive in an environment that encourages curiosity and nurtures ambition.
Our dynamic Lower College curriculum combines core academics, creative subjects, and co-curricular activities, offering endless opportunities for discovery.
Joining CLC in Year 9, new girls are welcomed into friendly Day Houses and benefit from a broad academic and co-curricular programme designed to spark curiosity and build confidence.
With expert guidance from tutors and pastoral staff, new students settle quickly and are encouraged to explore their passions while building the foundations for future success through their GCSE years.
Joining CLC at 16+ offers a tailored academic programme studying either A Levels or the International Baccalaureate, and exceptional support with University and High Education applications from our Professional Guidance Centre.
Throughout Sixth Form, students enjoy greater independence and extensive leadership opportunities, ensuring they are prepared and empowered to achieve their aspirations.
Occasionally mid-year places become available which may, for example, suit a family moving into the area – please get in touch with the Admissions Team directly to enquire about the availability of spaces, and the necessary steps to be taken.
How do I arrange a visit?
We offer a number of Open Days each year, which can be booked here.
A private visit to tour College with a member of our Admissions Department or a senior pupil may be more suited to a subsequent visit and booking priority will be given to parents whose daughter is registered for entry within two years. To enquire about a private visit, click here.
How do I apply for a day place, and when do I need to do it by?
Will my daughter have to sit an entrance examination?
How many applicants usually sit entrance examinations?
Approximately 470 candidates sit examinations each year across all year groups.
Is there a difference between a boarder and a day girl?
Day students and boarders are mixed throughout the day in lessons, clubs and activities.
Day girls have their own distinct houses rather than being slotted into spaces in the boarding houses, with each student belonging to one of the three junior day houses, or one Sixth Form house. Students regularly spend time in each others houses, and day students are encouraged to take part in our programme of weekend activities.
Is there a catchment area for day students?
There is no catchment area for admission to CLC, either as a day student or a boarder.
How early should we apply for a day place?
Most applicants will have registered by the following points:
Easter of Year 5 for Year 7 entry
Easter of Year 6 for Year 9 entry
Easter of Year 10 for Sixth Form entry
Use the link below to access our registration portal.
How much does it cost to attend CLC as a day student?
Fees vary by entry point. For a full breakdown, see our fees page.
What are the school hours for day students? And do they need to attend at the weekend?
Monday to Friday
Students should arrive at Eversleigh, our day girl centre, between 7.30am and 8.10am. The school day runs from 8.25am to 4.25pm., and Eversleigh is open until 7.00pm.
On exeats and half terms, College ends early at 1.10pm and Eversleigh closes at 3.00pm.
Saturday
Day girls are expected to attend on Saturdays. Eversleigh is open from 7.30am until 1.00pm, with school running 9.00am - 12.20pm. There are approximately 6 'exeat' weekends throughout the year where College finishes at lunchtime on Friday and there is no Saturday school. Across the year, it equates that day girls attend on approximately 21 Saturdays (depending on how the term dates fall).
See our term dates page for more details.
Are there before/after-school care options available for day students?
Yes, the Day Houses are open and supervised from 7.30am until 7.00pm on Monday–Friday, and 7.30am until 1.00pm on Saturdays.
What transport options are available for day students?
Buses run across Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. See our Local Buses page for more information.
Are day students allowed or encouraged to stay for evening activities and events?
Yes!
There are lots of clubs and activities on offer at College, and we encourage day girls to take full advantage of these opportunities.
Weekends at College are full of activities and Day girls are encouraged to join in with the Boarders. A full programme and sign up lists are posted on noticeboards in the Day Houses. Examples of Weekend Programme activities include zorbing, a roller disco, theatre trips and craft sessions.
Do you offer flexi boarding and/or can day students stay over occasionally?
We offer occasional boarding where day students can stay in a boarding house for up to 2 nights per week, either on a regular or ad hoc basis. Details of the cost of staying over with supper and breakfast can be found on our fees page
Can day students switch to boarding status if the needs of our family change?
Yes. It is easiest to move at the change of an academic year in September, so we can manage the numbers in our Boarding Houses. Where possible we ask parents to give two terms notice. However, if a change from day to boarding needs to happen mid-year or with less notice, we'll do our best to accommodate this.
Are day students eligible for scholarships?
Yes. Full details of our scholarships can be found on our scholarships page.
Are day students eligible for financial aid?
Yes. We offer bursaries from 10% - 100%. As they are means-tested, the application process takes longer than a standard application - as such we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Full details of our means-tested bursaries can be found on our Beale Awards page, and relevant deadlines can be found in our 11+, 13+, and 16+ entry guides.
I’ve missed the deadline for application, is it too late?
We always try our best to accommodate last applications, so please get in touch with our Admissions Team who be able to advise you if we have any spaces available.
