Monday 9th October saw the start of a very exciting Biology Week at CLC, which was celebrated with an array of events and competitions.
During breaktimes, Lower and Upper College were treated to some highly competitive Kahoot's. Well done to our winners!
Students from all year groups joined together to decorate tote bags after school on the Tuesday. The atmosphere was so happy and relaxed, and it was wonderful to do something so great for our wellbeing while also creating a sustainable bag to use again and again.
Lower College spent a lunch time enjoying a Biodiversity treasure hunt where they learnt about a variety of local species, while enjoying lots of well-deserved chocolate!
We also had many talks throughout Biology Week. Every lunch time, all year groups were invited to the Biology Department to hear from a range of SFC students speak about some incredible work experiences and projects they have completed during school holidays, from Rhino conservation to coding genetic circuits. Thank you to our fantastic SFC students for their impressive talks.
Biology Week culminated the following Monday with our keynote speaker, Guild member Bryony Blades. Bryony is currently completing a PhD in Biodiversity at the University of Oxford. She gave an insightful talk on her journey from initially studying Spanish at University, to falling in love with Ecology and her progression into a Biological PhD.
The Biology Department also launched a short essay competition, and a creative photography and poetry competitions. Thank you all for your wonderful entries.
