CEP Changemakers Exhibition
11th July 2024

"Excellent ambassadors both for our College and for the environment". That was the verdict about the participation of nine of our SFC1 students in the Cheltenham Education Partnership's Changemakers Exhibition, which took place at the town's main art gallery, The Wilson.

Along with pupils from seven other schools, our students spoke to members of the local council, businesses, and charities about the sustainability projects they have been working on this year. They have held a second hand clothing sale, worked with catering staff on reducing food waste, and devised a programme of climate change education for younger children.

As well as having a game that visitors to the stall could play (and win chocolate), the display had some very engaging visuals, and our students were also very happy to encourage as many passing members of the public as possible to come into the exhibition!

As their supervising teacher, I have been very impressed by the students dedication in developing their projects over a year long process. When it came to talking about it at the exhibition, their confidence and eloquence in talking to the visitors was also great to see. The skills gained in project management and presentation will no doubt be of great use to them in future university and work lives, and I hope that that they feel proud to have contributed to Cheltenham's sustainable future.

"It was a delight as always to work with the Cheltenham Ladies’ College students at our Changemakers event in June. The dedication, organisation and confidence shown by the students is an inspiration to other young people in Cheltenham. Their work at the event, bringing the public in to see the work that all of our schools had produced was critical to the success of the night and I am very grateful for the initiative shown. The CLC project display was informative, interactive and fun, and showcased the breadth of work the school undertakes to safeguard our natural environment. I am very excited to see how these projects evolve over the next academic year!" - Dan Clarke, CEP Coordinator and lecturer at the University of Gloucestershire
