On Tuesday 20th February, we were treated to excellent performances in the annual Chamber Concert, performed by our Music Scholars across all year groups.
There were so many different combinations of instruments in the various items, and the audience heard a wide range of repertoire in the intimate setting of the Council Room. From string quartets and harp duets to wind quintets and jazz trios, we heard a full timeline of musical composers.
From the early 18th century such as Quantz and Mozart, our musical journey continued with Beethoven and Schubert right through to traditional Scottish music, a 20th-century jazz standard - “All of Me”, and an arrangement of the soundtrack from the “Rocky” films.
There’s a real joy in making music in small groups as new friendships are always made when the collaborations are first formed, and this was shown by each item's enthusiasm and confidence.
A huge congratulations to all!
Mr Bailey, Head of Strings
