On Wednesday 11th October, College Choir were invited to Cheltenham College to sing Choral Evensong in its beautiful chapel. It was the first major event for College Choir of the academic year, and the opportunity to sing outside of the CLC environment was something the choir relished. They performed music by Parry, Harwood and Balfour Gardiner, finishing off the service with a rousing descant to the hymn ‘The day thou gavest’. In addition to a strong congregation in attendance, the service was livestreamed, where it was watched by parents and Guild members across the world. The livestream is still available to view on the Cheltenham College Chapel YouTube channel.
It was certainly a wonderful way to mark the choir’s hard work during the first half of this term. The singers’ attention is now turned to the Service for Remembrance, the Carol Service and the Christmas Concert – and excited they are about them, too!
