CLC STUDENTS CELEBRATE 2024 A LEVEL RESULTS
15th August 2024

Students at Cheltenham Ladies’ College are celebrating outstanding A Level results today, with many now moving on to top universities across the globe.

The A Level Class of 2024 has secured places to study at a range of the best universities across the UK, including Bath, Bristol, Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Imperial, LSE, Leeds, Manchester, Oxford, Southampton, Warwick, and UCL, as well as top US colleges including Amherst, Columbia, Emory, Harvard, NYU, UC Berkeley, and U Penn.

Reflecting on the achievements, Mr Josh Sumner, Head of Sixth Form, said:

“The destinations of this exceptional cohort are wide-ranging and they are going on to study an impressive variety of courses, reflecting their diverse interests. I am so proud of all that these fantastic students have achieved, not only in terms of their A Level results, but also their overall contribution to College and our community.”

Outside of the UK and US, a number of students have secured places to study at prestigious institutions in Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Malta and Hong Kong, helped by College’s experienced Higher Education and Global Universities Advisers.

Mr Sumner added:

“I am grateful to my colleagues in our world-leading Professional Guidance Centre, who have helped our students so well with their applications to competitive Higher Education courses in the UK and around the globe. Our students visit the PGC from their very earliest days in College, an approach which we find promotes independence, nurtures confidence and encourages them to feel excited about their future path.”

University courses range from Nutrition and Medical Sciences at UCL, Natural Sciences at Cambridge, and Chinese Studies at Durham, to Architecture at Bath, Music at Oxford, Law at LSE, and Mechanical Engineering at Imperial.

Over 90% of the A Level Class of 2024 achieved A*/A/B, and 70% of grades were awarded A* or A, with 57% of pupils achieving three or more grades at this level.

Principal Eve Jardine-Young said:

“We are proud of the mental and emotional aspiration and resilience of this cohort, mindful that this is a generation whose formative experiences at secondary school were heavily impacted as Year 9 students by the COVID pandemic lockdown of March 2020, and everything that has followed. They have a very great deal to offer the world and we wish them all well.”
