CLC students enter the first-ever British Psychology Olympiad
22nd February 2024

On 12th February, nine SFC1s participated in the first-ever British Psychology Olympiad, hosted by Minds Underground.

In the first round of the competition, we tackled 24 challenging questions within 1.5 hours, spanning an extremely extensive syllabus of content. This syllabus ranged from the nuanced roots of cognitive psychology to behavioural economic experiments, such as the "dictator game". Not only was our general knowledge of psychological theories tested, but we were also pushed to apply them by analysing several scientific journals, which were sent to us on the day of Round 1.

Congratulations to Diana, Eloise, Karly, Manar, Millie, Onyiu, Phoebe, Rachel and Vivianne who completed the first round, and best of luck to the seven SFC1s who advanced to the second round which will consist of four gruelling questions requiring a 400-word response each!

We want to thank Dr Norman for providing a surplus of support, which enabled us to absorb and comprehend an overwhelming amount of knowledge within a very limited period of time. Next year, we hope that even more aspiring psychologists from SFC1 will join the International Psychology Olympiad!
