In the last week of February, College Choir spent Tuesday and Wednesday in recording sessions for its forthcoming CD. Working with Chorum Records and producer Steve Swinden, the choir spent six hours each day in the Princess Hall recording and refining their performances of 20 different Christmas carols, anthems and songs. With assistance from Mr Lloyd and Mr Williams, and under the direction of Mr Parker, the choir achieved truly beautiful performances.
On Wednesday Morning, with the microphones set up, and the PH still arranged for the sessions, Mr Parker used the opportunity to record the entire College singing Adeste Fideles. Singing this carol in Latin remains a great College tradition. College executed their performance magnificently and had a great time experiencing what it takes to commit something to disc.
The recordings now go for editing and mastering and will be released in the Autumn, in time for Christmas, in both CD and download formats. Look out for more updates as we track the progress of this exciting project, which marks College’s 170th Anniversary.
