Some of the great talent in Lower and Upper College was on display in the Ensembles Concert on Friday 17th May, led by Sinfonia, who began the evening with a beautiful and impressive selection from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
The performances that followed were no less accomplished – two flute choirs, a mixed wind ensemble (fresh from their great success at the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts), the Brass Group and the Saxophone ensemble.
The performance culminated in three wonderful songs by Lower College Choir: Lennon and McCartney’s Penny Lane, Old Abram Brown by Benjamin Britten, and The Trolley Song from the Judy Garland film, Meet Me In St Louis.
As one parent commented, “These melodies will be stuck in my head all the way home – what great fun they were!”
Sincere thanks to all the parents, pupils and staff who supported these dedicated musicians.
Mr Parker, Head of Vocal Studies
