During the October Half Term, 20 girls from LC2 to UC5 and three staff embarked on a culinary adventure to Italy. During the action packed three days, activities included a visit to a limoncello farm, a guided tour of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii and a lesson in how to make gnocchi and struffoli.
A particular highlight was the tour of a family-owned olive oil farm, and a demonstration of how mozzarella is made, which included a delicious lunch!
The visit to Naples also included learning how to make stretchy bread dough to form the base used for pizzas, which of course were cooked and later devoured! The pizzas, along with the earlier visit to a gelato factory, gave the group the perfect energy boost to learn dance moves to traditional music, under the tutelage of two local experts.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed visiting the region and experiencing the various activities, adding to their knowledge of food provenance and production, and the culture of the area.
