From 17th to 21st March, CLC celebrated a fantastic German Week, filled with exciting activities, cultural experiences, and plenty of sweets!
The week kicked off with a visit from a Young Goethe Ambassador, who inspired pupils with her journey studying German at school and university. In Prayers, we reflected on the importance of language learning and the many opportunities an A Level in German can offer.
Pupils tested their knowledge in a German culture quiz, competing for delicious Haribo prizes. Sidney Lodge transformed into a cosy cinema for a screening of Heidi, while the tongue twister recital competition and MFL photo booth brought plenty of laughter. Another highlight was the "Learn to Yodel" breaktime session – despite some initial hesitation, some brave participants joined in, revealing some hidden talents, including Mr Sumner!
The online career business lunch was another enriching moment, where students had the opportunity to hear from the CEO of a company, gaining insight into how German can open doors in the professional world. To top it all off, we enjoyed an energetic virtual music workshop with Munich Supercrew, which quickly turned into a wild dance and singing party for the younger years!
Throughout the week, everyone enjoyed plenty of traditional German sweets, including Storck Riesen and Brausebrocken, adding an extra treat to the celebrations, and we hope you spotted our poster exhibition on Women Scientists in Berlin on display in the Marble Corridor!
What an amazing week – thank you to everyone who took part!
