In the last six weeks, a small group of us have taken part in an initiative called Global Citizens, as part of our enrichment activities at College. We all feel very passionately about the rapid, detrimental impacts of fast fashion therefore we wanted to do something to combat that in our local community.
With the help of all the girls in College, we had clothes donated and organised a pre-loved clothing sale within the school on Friday 13th January. We were very pleased with the outcome of the sale, which raised £578, and were so grateful for the support of our peers for helping us do this.
We all feel very inclined to help give back to the local community in Cheltenham and therefore donated the proceeds to Cheltenham Open Door. The issue of homelessness is so prevalent within society and we recognise how economically challenging things are right now, so we wanted to offer the money to help in any way possible.
We would also like to say a massive thank you to Miss Burston who helped us so much, and without her we wouldn’t have been able to facilitate this sale.
Rosie Radford, Operations Manager at Open Door, said: “Thank you so much for supporting us so we can help our Guests be warm, well and happy during a difficult time. We look after many vulnerable people in the community: those who are homeless, with mental and physical health issues, struggling with addiction, isolated and lonely. Donations like yours mean we can feel confident about looking after our Guests in the coming months.”
