Harvest Festival 2023
12th October 2023

On Sunday 8th October, we celebrated our Harvest Festival in the Princess Hall, surrounded by hot dog sausages, pot noodles and curry sauce… not forgetting the wonderful boarding community!

We were delighted to welcome Sarah Baker from the local Cheltenham Foodbank to join us for our service. Sarah encouraged us to think again about our connectedness and the words of Jesus to “feed the hungry”. In doing small things, like donating a monthly item to the Foodbank, we can help those in poverty, particularly in our local community.

The service was also blessed with readers, musicians, and prayers from Farnley Lodge.

Thank you to those of you who donated items. Our collected produce will go towards the valuable work of Cheltenham Open Door and Cheltenham Foodbank.

Not only did we collect and donate all our Harvest items to Cheltenham Open Door and Cheltenham Foodbank, but we have also donated pyjamas and sleeping bags for local organisations.

We can always find a good home for things here at CLC and this week we donated some lovely pyjamas used for a drama production last year to Stroud Women’s Refuge Centre. They provide safety and independence for women and children whose lives have been impacted by domestic abuse.

Also thanks to the Outdoor Education Department for donating sleeping bags, boots and a sleeping mat to Cheltenham Open Door. These will be distributed to those who are homeless, which will be especially useful now the days and nights are getting colder.

We also donated boots, mats and sleeping bags to Bournside School and Sixth Form for their Duke of Edinburgh programme. They will be able to use them with their students on expeditions in the future.

Many thanks to all who helped pack and distribute these items.
