Japanese New Year Calligraphy
16th January 2025

The students studying Japanese at CLC took part in the traditional Japanese New Year's activity of ‘kakizome’ (the first calligraphy of the year).

Since the zodiac sign for 2025 is the snake, they wrote ‘hebi-doshi’ (the year of the snake) in kanji and hiragana.

The students' kakizome works will be displayed in the Japanese classroom for the rest of the year. Calligraphy is one of Japan's traditional arts, and we believe that by taking on this challenge, students not only learn the skill of writing characters but also deepen their understanding of Japanese culture.

A Happy New Year 2025!
