LC1 Murder Mystery and Sleepover 2024
19th January 2024

Last Saturday, LC1s relished the chance to have College to themselves and dash around by torchlight solving our CLC Murder Mystery. We plan this annual event at the start of term for a bit of excitement post holidays, with the January evening providing darkness early on, making the evening suitably spooky in the College corridors!

From the start, it was clear from the high spirits and chatter, that the LC1s were keen to make the most of a marvellous event; enjoying the chance to mix across the houses. The boarders were excited to welcome all the daygirls for much of the day and overnight. Day girls made their way to allocated boarding houses straight after school on Saturday, which gave them ample opportunity to settle in, and set up the spaces for the ‘camp out’ in houses.

Later, while we were enjoying supper altogether at the Bayshill Court Dining room, Mr Todd and SFC helpers left clever clues all over College. Once we came across to the main site, LC1s were led past the ‘crime’ scene in the darkened College Library. They huddled together, using torches to study the ‘evidence’ and before long, they were racing around working hard to solve the murder based on clues that were suitably challenging. The shrieks, laughter, whispers and calling to one another throughout said it all; the LC1s had expended a great deal of energy and had thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of solving the iced-bun murder!

What has become a tradition at the sleepover is the chance to be a little giddy down the Marble Corridor. So, to finish, the LC1s were encouraged to form a giant ‘conga’ line and they sang or laughed all the way back to the GCR. There they were greeted by house staff waiting to accompany them to houses for hot chocolate and other activities before settling down for the night. The sleepover has become another wonderful occasion to make happy memories at CLC.
