The first Saturday of term was a thrilling one for our LC1s, with our Day students joining a Boarding House for the night. From the start, it was clear from the the merriment and chatter, that all the LC1s were keen to make the most of a marvellous occasion with the chance to mix across the Houses.
The main event was the eagerly anticipated Murder Mystery held in College. After their supper in the Houses, the LC1s arrived in high spirits, ready to relish the chance to have College to themselves and race around by torchlight solving our very own ‘Whodunnit?’.
In small groups, the LC1s were led into the darkened College Library, and past the ‘crime’ scene. They huddled together, communicating in excited whispers and using torches to study the ‘evidence’ alongside the inert body of none other than Miss Ralph!
Before long, they were tearing around, working hard to solve the murder based on clues that were suitably challenging. The shrieks, laughter, whispers and calling to one another throughout said it all. The LC1s had expended a great deal of energy and had thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of solving the iced-bun murder. And who would have thought… it was all over the matter of a parking space!
We plan this annual event at the start of term for a lively time post-holidays. The January evening also provides darkness early on, making the soiree suitably spooky in the College corridors. This event is another wonderful opportunity for us to make happy memories at CLC.
