On Wednesday 26th February, College hosted the ‘Look Who’s Talking’ competition.
This competition shines the spotlight on oracy across all of Gloucestershire’s primary schools. The aim of the competition is to celebrate the voices of all children from the ages of six to 11 years old. It encourages children to talk about topics that matter most to them and share this with others. For the competition itself, any child who would like to can choose to talk about something they would like to talk about. They should aim to talk about this to fill a two minute slot. They may use any props they wish to help bring their talk to life but they may not use any form of technology to help them during the talk – it’s all about children talking about what matters most to them! The winners will then go on to the next stage and will represent their school in the competition, with lots of other local schools!
We were visited by 14 local Primary Schools (state and independent) and the children were exceptional – some were just five years old and representing their infant schools!
The competition was judged by Mrs Meyrick and Miss Davies, alongside three brilliant Sixth Formers, Bee, Hayen and Vivien. The event was hosted by Ms Woodhead, Mrs Gill from Admissions, along with Richard Cross from Berkhampstead Prep.
All the judges gave such warm and reassuring responses and welcome to the visitors – they did us proud!
Thank you to Andrea Harrison and Sherry Castledine for refreshments. Also to Porters, tech team and reception for their help.
A HUGE thank you to Mrs Dabrowska, who oversaw all the logistics / planning and who liaised with visitors from start to finish!
Ms Woodhead, Head of Lower College and Wellbeing Coordinator
