On Tuesday 5th March, we were delighted to welcome Lord Jonathan Sumption to College.
He spoke to an audience of staff, students and guests on the topic of “The European Human Rights Convention: the case against". This provided an interesting contrast to the views of Professor Vernon Bogdanor, who visited back in September. Lord Sumption taught History at Oxford before converting to law and practising at the bar. He was a Justice of the Supreme Court between 2012 and 2018 and delivered the BBC Reith Lectures in 2019 on the theme of “Law and the Decline of Politics".
