On Monday 10th October, seven LC3 (Year 9) pupils attended the Spanish cooking session where they made some irresistible Mexican food. The recipe was written in Spanish, therefore we learnt some Spanish along the way too. There were ingredients such as crushed avocado, red pepper, fried bacon, fresh lime and grated cheddar. Señor Moya and Señora Roca were wrapped just like burritos and wearing giant straw hats, along with Mrs Flewitt, who was so well organised.
We worked collaboratively in pairs, turning the various ingredients into enticing, mouth-watering burritos. Although, there was definitely some sneaky food eating before even finished making the burritos. Señora Roca taught the group how to wrap up the burrito in a traditional Mexican way. Nevertheless, eating the food was the best part of all – some of us simply couldn’t resist those delectable burritos and made a second one!
At the end of the session, we tried on the fancy, colourful blanket and straw hat. We surely had a memorable evening making burritos and indulging in the richness of Mexican culture. It was a truly fabulous experience!
