Pets As Therapy Visit
19th June 2024

We love to invite representatives from the charity Pets As Therapy (PAT) to pop into College now and then, as this is good for our wellbeing!

College is fortunate to have two members of staff who are PAT volunteers and recently, Mrs Lygoe and Miss Brown brought in their much-loved pets: Lucy, the Chihuahua, and Merry, the Spaniel, much to the delight of many of our students and staff.

They came along for some LC1 PSHE lessons, and also on some Friday afternoons to spend time with LC3s and SFC students for some much-needed downtime in the garden after internal assessments. The students were gentle and loving in their interactions with the dogs, and the dogs enjoyed all the fuss - especially the photoshoot!

Pets As Therapy supports research into the benefits of animal-assisted therapy and advocates for the positive impact of pet therapy on mental and physical health. The charity provides therapeutic visits from volunteers and their pets to a variety of establishments such as schools, hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, and prisons.

The goal is to enhance health and wellbeing in the community by providing comfort, companionship, and emotional support through interactions with animals. We certainly agree that these visits are good for us, so we invite them in as often as we can and we are hoping to seek out more ways to support this wonderful charity.
