On 30th January, College hosted the first of four chemistry and biology workshops with Year 5 students from Berkhampstead School, on the theme of ‘Patterns in Science’.
The children explored patterns in chemistry, from the effect of temperature on rates to the periodic table and trends in reactivity. The children then carried out their own investigations, assisted by chemistry A Level students from SFC1. They carried out oscillating reactions, measuring the interval between oscillations in an experiment based on the famous Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction.
