Our students have excelled in the Senior UK Maths Trust Challenges this year. It was particularly pleasing to see 127 pupils enter the Senior Maths Challenge, with 34 achieving a Gold Certificate. Fifteen students went on to achieve a distinction in the follow-on Senior Kangaroo Competition.
Twenty-five students took part in the Mathematical Olympiad for Girls. In this competition, girls are not only tested on their ability to solve challenging problems but are also scored on their construction of mathematical arguments. Sixteen students were awarded a Certificate of Distinction. Special Congratulations to Emily (UC5 / Year 11), Bonnie, Joanna and Wendy (all SFC2 / Year 13) who did amazingly well in the tough 3.5-hour British Mathematical Olympiad for Girls (Round 1) competition. Emily, Bonnie and Joanna were awarded a merit certificate and Wendy was awarded a distinction.
