13th March 2025

Netball

A massive well done to the U14 netball team who won the district tournament on 3rd March. The girls were versatile in their positions and represented CLC with pride.

The U13s also had a great district tournament on Wednesday 5th March, narrowly missing out on getting to the final on golden goal!

On Saturday afternoon, 14 netball teams participated in some well contested netball fixtures against King’s Gloucester. All games were played in excellent spirit, and it was wonderful to see the team’s gel as a unit and integrate recent training sessions in their game play. A special well done to the first team, U15B, U14B and C’s, U13B and C’s and U12As who were all victorious in their matches.

Well done to Ella (UC5) who competed in the England Young Roses Netball squad that won the U17 Europe Netball Division 1 trophy - an amazing achievement and the CLC community are very proud.

Swimming

In the Spring round of the Cheltenham Challenge Cup for swimming, our U18 and U15 teams delivered superb performances in the three-way meet against Cheltenham College and Dean Close. A huge well done to everyone for retaining the trophy for another year, and congratulations to the 10 swimmers who achieved either personal bests or season’s best times.

On Friday 6th of March, CLC had five swimmers competing at The Bath Cup. This is the country’s most historic inter-schools relay event held at the London Olympic Pool. Our team rose to the occasion, moving up the rankings by eight places with their outstanding performances. Well done Caitlin (SFC1), Bethie (SFC1), Michelle (UC5), Ellie (UC4), and Chizara (LC3)!

Basketball

On Thursday 6th March, the basketball team had a competitive match with local club Cheltenham Chargers – this time with their league winning team. Despite stiff opposition the girls held their own and played with great determination and confidence.

Football

Last week the senior football team played Malvern College, it was a wonderful positive atmosphere, and the girls played some excellent football. With over 25 girls participating, each player showed excellent versatility and took on the challenge of any position they were asked to play. It has been amazing to see the growth of girl's football and seeing the team learn and develop over the term.

Hockey

On Saturday morning, we welcomed Cheltenham Hockey Club to play two fixtures against the U12s. The A team played some excellent hockey and special mention to Mia (LC1) for some outstanding goals. In the afternoon the U14s also played Cheltenham Hockey Club in a well contested match. The girls played with tenacity and held their own showing versatility in their positions and a great attitude to the game.

The U15 and U18 hockey teams played against Christ College, the U15s drew 3-3 in a thrilling fixture and the U18s had a convincing win. Well done to Alice (LC3) who made her first team debut and scored 2 goals. The Christ College girls were particularly excited about the CLC match teas, a massive thank you to the catering team who put on such a fantastic spread on a Saturday and for all they do for the PE department.

Tennis

Wednesday lunchtime tennis, ran by Luna and Julia in SFC1, is in full swing with 20 LC1s turning up this week! We have some great players blossoming getting ready for the summer term ahead.

Squash

Junior House Squash took place on Tuesday last week, it was a well contested event. Congratulations to Glenlee for winning, and to St Margaret’s for being runners up.
