Football

The first team football squad had another fantastic fixture against Clifton College on Tuesday afternoon. It was a very closely contested game with the girls really having to dig deep against a well drilled Clifton side. With three minutes to go, Player of the Match Fiona (SFC1) scored an amazing goal meaning CLC won 1-0. Well done to Bea (UC5) who was also awarded Player of the match.

Badminton

Thirteen seniors visited the Utilitia arena on Tuesday to watch the YONEX Badminton World Championships. A great day of watching singles, doubles and mixed of the world’s elite Badminton players in action.

Swimming

The CLC 25m Sprint Championships is always a highlight, and this year was no exception. Powerful, explosive efforts led to thrillingly close races and an impressive number of personal bests, making for a truly exciting spectacle. Congratulations to all who competed, especially those who achieved new season or personal best times. A special mention goes to Michelle (UC5) for breaking the 10-year-old UC5 College backstroke record - a remarkable achievement!

Cross Country

Congratulations to Hannah (LC3), who represented Gloucestershire Schools at the English Schools Cross Country Championships on Saturday. She produced a determined effort over the 2.8 km course, playing a key role in helping our county secure an impressive 8th place in the team standings. Well done, Hannah!

Hockey

Huge congratulations to Sophie (SFC2) who spent a gruelling day at U21 Ireland trials for hockey over the weekend. Sophie has worked relentlessly across her time at CLC to achieve consistent national league selection, and trialling for international honours is a truly impressive achievement!

Congratulations also to Jana, Tasha, Ava and Mia in LC1 who represented Cheltenham Junior Hockey Club (CJHC) in the Tier 1 County Qualifiers on Sunday. They won the whole tournament with all our CLC girls contributing hugely to a fantastically exciting and tense day of competition. CJHC now go on to West Finals with the winners of that going to the national hockey stadium for the finals – fingers crossed for the next round.

Rowing

The rowers had a successful day at Gloucester Spring Head race, with some girls making their debut rowing race and others competing in their longest race yet over the 5km-long course. It was a very busy day with over 300 crews racing. A special mention to Delphine and Florrie who put in an excellent performance to come 3rd in a category with rowers who are on the Great Britain Performance Pathway. Outstanding effort!

Lacrosse Nationals

Well done to the 90 lacrosse players that represented CLC across five teams at the National Schools Lacrosse Championship! The sun shone on the first two days of play and saw our senior teams come together to deliver excellent performances across the weekend. With a further three teams attending on Monday and Tuesday, the future is looking bright for the programme. The U14s got unlucky in their knockout round but a huge congratulations to our U13 Quarterfinalists who played their hearts out in every minute of every game on the day.

A shout out to all the goalkeepers across the year groups.  Whether it is Sophia’s split saves, Katie’s break away clears or Kelly’s phenomenal reactions, our senior goalies all have a unique style that provide the backbone of their teams.  A huge thanks also goes to Josephine, Lottie and Skylar for stepping up to the role and supporting their teams.

The CLC lacrosse legacy was visible in various roles at the tournament with Guild members also on site. With England Box player Lauren Lewis (Guild 2016) advising the next generation of players on equipment purchases, Sophie Tebbs (Guild 2017) coaching the U13 team for Wycombe Abbey and Ella Entwistle (Guild 2023) umpiring, we are proud to see that CLC players remain part of the lacrosse community beyond their school years.

It is safe to say this annual tournament is a rite of passage for lacrosse players in the UK and holds great meaning for all who take part. Ms Cornbrooks is incredibly proud of everyone who represented the CLC lacrosse teams at NSLC 2025. Special thanks to our Leavers for their leadership and contributions to the programme; best wishes to all of you in your future endeavors.
