A squad of 14 LC3 students represented CLC at the U14 District Football Tournament, on Wednesday 20th November. The afternoon was an amazing learning experience for all involved, as each match they grew in confidence, skill level and understanding for the game.
On Tuesday 19th November, our Senior Badminton Team invited Cheltenham College to play a tournament. We were able to give 18 CLC students a chance for match play against the local school.
We won in both A and B Team, but more importantly, it is always played in great spirit.
Our Senior and U15 swimming teams delivered outstanding performances in the first round of the ‘Cheltenham Challenge Cup U18, U15’ v Cheltenham College and Dean Close, with exciting racing and impressive results across the board.
The seniors shone, with standout swims from Caitlin and Michelle in the 100m Individual Medley, new personal bests for Caitlyn, Bethie, and Michelle, and a fantastic relay 1-2 finish to cap off their evening.
The U15s matched the energy, with Jess setting a new school personal best in the 100m Individual Medley, Chizzy celebrating her birthday with a personal best and a win in the 25m Freestyle, and both teams excelling in the relays.
Well done to everyone who stepped up and swam for their House! House events are a fantastic opportunity for girls to showcase a wide range of qualities, from bravery, venturing outside their comfort zones to ensure their House is represented, to loyalty, with former swimmers dusting off their suits to show their allegiance. For others, it was a chance to put their swimming skills to good use for the benefit of their House.
Each and every effort deserves to be commended and celebrated.
House sporting events are always fiercely contested, and this one was no exception. The determination and passion on display were remarkable, with an impressive 15 new personal bests also highlighting this.

A fantastic array of talent was on display on Thursday 28th November for our Junior House Table Tennis event.
It was absolutely delightful to hear the laughs and screams of excitement from all the students who took part. The standard was high and everyone got involved and made it a wonderful event.
Well done to St Helen's for coming out on top that night!
On Thursday 21st November, nine UC4 netballers travelled to Redmaids’ High School for the next round of the School Sport Magazine National Schools U15 Cup. They played some impressive netball in a fast game, working well in defence and attack. Well done to all involved.
Over 100 girls took part in fixtures on Saturday afternoon against Cleeve School. All of the matches were closely contested and the CLC teams were focused on building connections within their teams.
Well done to all those nominated as Players of the Match by the opposition.
Thursday 28th November saw the U16’s at Millfield School for the West Regional Finals. The team went unbeaten in the pool rounds and qualified for the semi finals but sadly went out on sudden death penalty shuffles, after a thrilling 1-1 draw.
Friday 29th November saw the U14s at their West Regional Finals, where CLC again qualified for knock out stages through some excellent pool results.
Alice scored with the last touch of the semi final to put us through to the top three playoff to see who would progress to Nationals. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get past two very strong teams but a phenomenal effort.
Friday also saw the U12s progress to Regional Finals. They went unbeaten through their pool and lost the County Final on shuffles. This was the first time in CLC's hockey history that U12, U14, and U16s have all made regional finals! Well done to everyone who attends training and matches.
On Friday 29th November, 13 dancers took their Royal Academy of Dance Ballet exams at the Health and Fitness Centre.
All dancers have been preparing for these exams on top of being very busy with the Dance Showcase! They all did fantastically well!
Six teams representing all age groups faced off against St Mary’s Calne in home fixtures as part of our CLC Super Saturday.
The focus was to start strong and make the opponents chase our standard of play. This was evident across all the age groups.
Well controlled draws, beautifully executed tactics off goal clears and precision goal conversions were highlight moments in every team.
A special congratulations to our U12 and U13 Laxers for their victories! To be executing complex skills, applying strategy and delivering consistent performances across all four quarters is a wonderful achievement!
A special mention to Alice who on Sunday took part in Super Counties, a lacrosse tournament that is part of the South West Talent Pathway. A huge well done to her for playing multiple days of multiple sports in a row, and helping her team win the tournament on the day!
On Sunday 1st December, the Senior Rowing Team had Monmouth Winter Head, where despite the river being flooded last Monday, the river levels dropped enough that the event could go ahead.
All of the girls were absolutely fantastic and rowed with grit and determination. Despite not coming away with a win, we had a great day and learnt a lot from it.
St Mary’s Calne brought tennis and badminton players along with the lacrosse teams on Saturday 30th November. The tennis consisted of three matches, which were close and gave some fantastic match play experience to our students. We won six matches to three.
