Sport Roundup 7th March
6th March 2025

Swimming

Well done to the 25 students who took part in our CLC 50m Swimming Championships. Congratulations to those who swam their events for the first time and to the 11 students who achieved new season bests or personal bests.

The recent County Swimming Championships also came to a close, special mention goes to LC1 Georgia for helping her team secure medals in the relays.

Netball

The U12 and U15 netball teams delivered two outstanding performances last week at the Cheltenham District Netball Tournament.

The LC1 team went through to the semi-finals, and should be so proud of how they all performed. The UC4s were unbeaten throughout the afternoon, going on to win the tournament and take away the trophy.

Last weekend, all year groups played against Tudor Hall in netball fixtures. We were fortunate to have some glorious sunshine, which helped lift everyone's spirits during fun and engaging matches.

Lacrosse

Saturday’s lacrosse tournaments saw four teams competing, which was excellent preparation for next week’s National Schools Lacrosse Championships.

A big shout out to all our Senior Team Captains for their incredible leadership at the Marlborough Invitational.

Also, congratulations to our U14 squad for consistently delivering strong individual and team performances in the South West Regional Championships. Good luck at National Schools.

Hockey

The 1st XI played Millfield in a thrilling hockey match last week. An injury to one of the pupils meant the last quarter had to be played with no goal keeper and with only a few minutes on the clock, Athene scored and won the game for CLC.

Football

A fantastic set of fixtures against Shrewsbury School and Cheltenham College on Saturday, for the 1st and 2nd team football. The 1st team demonstrated excelled resilience and team work as they battled through two close fixtures.

A special well done to Debbie (UC5) who made her debut as goalkeeper. The 2nd team had a very close match ending 2-1 but all the girls stepped up and we even had LC3s and UC4s playing in a senior fixture!

We also had Senior House Football last Friday.

Rowing

The rowers raced at Avon County rowing club on Saturday, with 13 rowers racing across six categories - it was an extremely successful day.

All rowers put in an excellent performance and took lots of positives away from the experience.

Pickleball

On Saturday, we welcomed players from Chalford and Cirencester for some Pickleball matches. Lots of games and close points were played against the clubs. Although a new sport introduced to CLC this year, we have lots of potential and some great players developing!

Golf

Congratulations to Regina (UC4) who finished 5th in the U18 category and 4th in the U16 category at the Daily Mail World Golf Championships in Spain over half term.

This is the start of a busy golfing schedule for the golf players in college.

Senior House Squash
