CLC hosted and organised a school tournament giving an action-packed couple of hours of squash. In the U18 tournament, we welcomed teams representing Cheltenham College, St Edward’s and Downe House.
Well done to the CLC team for finishing second. Our U16 team played fantastically and also came second overall. A great afternoon of competitive squash for all players involved.
Despite the stormy conditions, we took a squad of over 20 senior students to Clifton College last Tuesday for their first football fixture of the season. The defence worked tirelessly to put pressure on their attack, making crucial tackles to prevent several scoring opportunities from the opposition. In attack, the students demonstrated excellent control on and off the ball, as they worked well as a unit to create several shooting opportunities.
The game was played in excellent spirit, as the strong connections formed by players both on and off the pitch fostered an environment of encouragement and mutual respect. A special mention to Gor-Bua who scored a fantastic goal!
The 1st Hockey Team recently played Millfield School at home. With some debut performances from CLC pupils, the team played with incredible intensity against a highly proficient Millfield side. A focus on denying space when out of possession and making positive connections when in possession meant that CLC managed to control large parts of the match, scoring an excellent goal from a really effective high press.
Well done for a great night of development - and an excellent win!
Last week, we played some superb mid-week netball fixtures against Cheltenham College. Our senior netballers fought valiantly against competitive sides, displaying amazing enthusiasm, intensity, and determination throughout. We gained valuable insights from the matches and are confident that we can apply what we have learned to our future fixtures.
A special mention goes to the senior 1st squad, which competed against both Cheltenham College’s 1st team and their U16A team, rotating against each squad over 7 rounds. It was a test of our physical fitness, but the pupils outperformed them at every chance and secured a victory!
Our U12 and U13 Swim Teams kicked off 2024 with some truly inspiring performances in a thrilling head-to-head match against Dean Close Prep. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as our swimmers competed in a points-based match, showcasing their absolute best in every race. What truly stood out was the willingness of all participants to push their limits by taking on races beyond their usual specialities.
A special shout-out goes to Anika, for her exceptional effort in the challenging 50m Butterfly. Additionally, we extend congratulations to LC1 swimmers Skylar, Serina, and Georgie, as well as LC2 swimmers Alice W and Claire, for achieving new personal best times.

The annual National Schools Lacrosse Competitions takes place the weekend of 9th March. Over four days CLC will be represented by five College teams from LC2 through to SFC2. This will closely be followed by three junior teams representing College at the South West Regional Championships towards the end of March. These will be hosted by CLC.
The inaugural Gloucestershire Badminton Community Doubles Tournament takes place this weekend hosted by CLC. The tournament provides an opportunity for players who do not represent County or Regional teams. It is a fantastic opportunity for grassroots Badminton players to take part in a competitive environment.
