The last Saturday of term saw lots of action across a range of sports. CLC hosted Bromsgrove for the second time this term. The sports hall was filled with laughter, cheers and supportive calls.
The teams collaborated together, tried new systems and were eager to make their mark. In each set the teams were level but the CLC squad were clever with their rotations and played to each other’s strengths to ensure a straight set victory. It was Mrs Najim’s favourite fixture!
Lacrosse
The local lacrosse competition with the Cheltenham Women's Lacrosse Club started with a straight match up against our 1st team. CLC players showed focus and discipline to come from behind and secure a one goal victory. During the next rounds, some CLC players mixed in with the club team. Our team managers, Gabby & Liv, organised multiple line-ups using 25 players across 40 minutes of play, to ensure everyone was involved. It was a wonderful afternoon of great lacrosse and building links with the local sports community.
Badminton
Bromsgrove School bought their Badminton players alongside their Volleyball team. We had 21 students involved on Saturday against Bromsgrove. Overall we demonstrated some excellent singles and doubles attacking play, ensuring we came out top overall. A brilliant afternoon of badminton play.
Netball
Well Place was full of action with the annual fixture against St Mary’s Ascot. It was a day full of competitive excitement with matches played in great spirits across LC, UC4 and seniors. This was one of our toughest competitions yet, but all students went into these matches with enthusiasm and determination and we came away with some outstanding team performances. Well done to all.
Annie (LC3) spent Sunday representing Gloucestershire in a mixture of singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches against Avon county winning all her matches – congratulations!
Last Friday saw the U13s crowned County Champions without conceding a goal all day. They won a fantastically tight final 1-0 to take the trophy.
Friday evening saw our inaugural varsity hockey fixtures vs Wycliffe college with two tight matches. The second team played some fantastic hockey against a resilient opposition defence and took the win, 1-0. The 1st team had to find some amazing character to come from behind three times before finally leading with three minutes to go. It was a great game against fantastic hosts with CLC taking home the trophy.
Well done to Jess and Bea who both had trials for England hockey talent academy on Friday, and Bea for being selected for County.
All years have been in action on the hockey pitches competing for the annual House Hockey Competitions. All year groups competed in seven-a-side matches demonstrating values of determination, teamwork, communication and bravery. Well done to everyone who took part.
