UC5 Textiles student Bea was invited to attend the Best of Graduate Fashion Week Awards Ceremony on Thursday 13th June to see her winning design go down the catwalk!
Bea won first place in a fashion design competition organised by the Graduate Fashion Foundation to spot emerging talent at school-level.
Her brief was to produce a set of designs inspired by the theme of ‘Identity’, accompanied by a body of comprehensive research and fabric swatches. Bea’s unisex design, inspired by her Scottish heritage and love of androgynous streetwear, was brought to life by the team at Coventry University who manufactured the garments.
Bea and I had a very inspiring and informative day at the Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London, meeting graduate designers from many Higher Education institutions and viewing their work.
This was followed in the evening by the ‘main event’, where Bea was able to see her ‘look’ (outfit) being showcased and applauded by industry professionals alongside work from the best graduates in the country.
This is a magnificent achievement and wonderful recognition of Bea’s talents.
