Last week was Sustainability Week – the third year this has taken place at CLC. The purpose of the week is to raise awareness of environmental topics, both those of a global nature and those which affect us as part of the local Cheltenham area, but with a particular focus on us as a school community.
Over the week there were ten events catering for all age groups. These ranged from fun games to formal debates. I was particularly pleased to see the high level of cooperation between student clubs and societies such as the Sustainability Committee, Environmental Society, Cheltenham Education Partnership Change Makers, Debating Society, Model United Nations and the Film Society. Many thanks also to teaching colleagues from the Economics, Geography, Art, Biology and English departments for their valuable involvement.
Seeing so many students and staff come together around one cause is, I hope, a sign to our students that although they may have anxiety about the future of the planet, they are not alone, and great change can come if we work together.
