On Thursday 27th June, UC4 geography students set off to the South coast to study Longshore Drift and Coastal Management.
Everyone worked hard to collect lots of accurate sediment data in their phone apps to show it being transported from West to East, until it was trapped by a large rock armour groyne - being heavily engineered on the day we visited.
This data will be presented using geographical information systems giving students spatially located data on satellite images to show changes along the shore.
It forms an important part of their fieldwork for GCSE and we are very proud of the team work demonstrated throughout the day. We also hope they enjoyed an opportunity to be at the seaside and out of College researching geographical processes scientifically.
