We are delighted to welcome Miss Lizzie McCarthy to College as the Global Universities Adviser. This new role, alongside Lizzie's support and experience, will enable us to take our US provision from strength to strength.
We are thrilled to announce that over the course of the recent Easter break students in SFC2 have received a multitude of decisions from a diverse range of highly respected institutions in the United States.
This time last year, over 30 students embarked on the enriching journey of pursuing higher education options in the US, seeking to broaden their horizons and enhance their global outlook. It’s important to note that the process of applying to these institutions is particularly rigorous, demanding a high level of dedication and a considerable amount of hard work. The wonderful news of their successful applications, therefore, speaks volumes to the resilience, dedication, hard work and overall capability of our students. It is a testament to their readiness and preparedness to thrive in a challenging and demanding university environment.
For those students who decided to make early action applications last November, acceptances came throughout December from institutions such as the University of Southern California, Case Western Reserve University (which holds the title of the top ranked university in Ohio and one of the top ranked research universities in the US), Vanderbilt University, Fordham University and Emory University in Georgia. The good news didn’t stop there!
Further success came in over the Easter holidays for for the regular decision round at a variety of the top institutions in the US including renowned names such as Amherst College, Stanford University, Bowdoin College, New York University, Brown University, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Harvard University, Rice University, UCLA, UC San Diego, Wesleyan University, The Ohio State University, Purdue University, Middlebury College, Cornell University, Rutgers University, Northwestern University, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Virginia, Denison University, Barnard College, Skidmore College, William & Mary, Duke University and Carnegie Mellon University.
One of the defining characteristics of the application process for higher education institutions in the United States is their commitment to a comprehensive, holistic admissions approach. This means that they do not solely focus on academic attainment. Instead, they take into account a wide range of factors including co-curricular engagement, the quality of personal essays and the applicant's contribution to their community. Our students thrived on this approach as it provided them with a platform to showcase their diverse talents and the broad range of endeavours they undertake outside of the classroom.
We would like to take this opportunity to extend our warmest congratulations to these students on their phenomenal achievements and wish them all the best of luck as they embark on this exciting chapter of their academic journey, which we have no doubt will be filled with great success and rewarding experiences.
