On Thursday 7th March, staff and students swapped their everyday wear for the garb of famous book characters. This year’s theme, ‘From Book to Screen’, invited all members of the CLC community to come into College as characters from their favourite adaptations. Costumes included literary staples such as Lady Macbeth and the Queen of Hearts, to beloved children’s characters like Winnie the Pooh (and friends!) and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
The English Department and the Library Team worked together to deliver an exciting day of events including a morning Prayers with a book-themed quiz, a fashion show from the Prefects, and a whole-school catwalk down the Marble Corridor.
At the end of term, ‘Best Dressed’ winners were notified of their success and were invited to collect their official World Book Day pin badge at the start of the summer term. Winners can wear their pin with pride as the English Department was thoroughly impressed by the effort these participants put into bringing their characters to life. A standard has been set and the department cannot wait to see how CLC will celebrate World Book Day again next March!
