CLC named top girls boarding school in the UK for the IB
6th December 2024

Cheltenham Ladies’ College has been been named top girls boarding school in the UK for the International Baccalaureate, placing us 6th in the UK rankings and 15th in the world.

The awards for excellence in academic achievement for the IB arise from the national and global league tables.

The league tables are based on CLC’s academic performance, when compared with all other IB schools across the UK and the world. In 2024, we were delighted that CLC pupils achieved an average point score of 39.3 for the IB.

Reflecting on their achievements, Mr Sumner, Head of Sixth Form, said:

“I am so proud of not just the academic achievement of this remarkable group of IB students, but also how they have worked together as a cohort, supporting one another throughout the course. They have a varied set of exciting next steps, and the IB Diploma Programme has undoubtedly set them up to thrive wherever they go.”

CLC has also recently been named Independent School of the Year for Academic Excellence in the Southwest 2025, by The Sunday Times ‘Parent Power Guide’.

While Cheltenham Ladies’ College is known for academic excellence, this is only a small part of a much bigger picture. CLC prides itself on educating the whole person and aiming to inspire a love of learning, nurturing well-rounded girls with the skills and confidence to have a positive influence in the world.
