On Saturday 16th November, 11 students from LC3-UC4 performed various musical items in the Princess Hall.
Evelyn opened the concert with an intricate display on the harp with Gavotte by Salzedo. Flutist Renee followed, performing so confidently in what was her first ever flute solo at College. Eunis’ violin playing in de Beriot’s Adagio demonstrated long flowing lines and Alice’s assured rendition of Indigo Moon on the piano added a jazzy contrast. We then heard Eva eloquently sing a haunting Aria by Handel, which was followed by Yik Man’s dramatic interpretation of The Montagues and Capulets by Prokofiev on the viola.
The harp returned to the stage with Kaitlyn’s lively upbeat performance of Joe Hisaishi’s Summer. This joyous vibe continued as Olynn’s bright sound of Mozart’s Violin Concerto no.3 reverberated around the Princess Hall. Claire played her violin with great maturity performing Romance by Sibelius, and Toby played with similar expression in Romance for Viola by Bruch, with poise and control. The concert ended with Faith’s cheerful and characterful violin playing of Dancla’s Petit Air Varié No.3.
It was a wonderful concert enjoyed by a large audience of LC3 and UC4 students.
Our thanks go to all the instrumental teachers that helped prepare the students for this concert and to our accompanists Mr Jones, Miss Fu and Mr Carr.
